Fun in the Sun - July Events in Western New York

GardenWalk.jpgThe summer is heating up and so is Buffalo! And what better way to kick off the month of July than with our annual First Fridays in Allentown? For the first Friday of each month this historic neighborhood’s local businesses, galleries, and restaurants are inviting you to enjoy the rich cultural attractions of the area with the best music, art, live performances, food and more that we have to offer!

Looking for something during the week? Every first Wednesday of the month is the Buffalo History Museum Annual Food Truck Rodeo - a local favorite! In addition to the dozen or so food trucks (offering menus from gourmet hot dogs and tacos to vegetarian dishes and desserts) this rodeo offers museum tours, arts and crafts activities for the children, great outdoor music and more!

And it doesn’t stop there! The month of July is packed full of festivals, providing fun for the whole family! Canal Fest of the Tonawandas kicks off the season the week of the 13th. The largest festival of its kind found along the Erie Canal, Canal Fest provides a variety of amusements, games, vendors and merchandise, food and much more with a spectacular firework display closing the week long festival. And how about the Italian Heritage Festival on Hertel Ave? Located in the heart of Buffalo’s very own “Little Italy” the Italian Heritage Festival is the 2nd largest street festival in the nation with plenty of food, contests, and entertainment to go around!

Not to be excluded from the list is the Wine and Culinary Festival, Eden Corn Festival and, of course, the Niagara County Fair! The Niagara County Fair is one of the many favorite summertime events in the region. Featuring food, games, rides, firemen’s parade, 4-H animal shows, classic car show, new events and more; the Niagara County Fair is fun for the whole family!

Need a break from the hustle and bustle of our festivals? On the 26th and 27th be sure not to miss Garden Walk Buffalo, a peaceful walk among private and community gardens extending from the Frederick Law Olmsted - designed Delaware Park to downtown Buffalo. Experience the Celebration of Coleus and Color where the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens are bursting with color! Also, every third Friday of the month admission to the Buffalo History Museum, Resource Center, and select events are free for everyone.

Check out our events page for the month of July for further information on these festivities and more!

Enjoy your fun in the sun!
